Being pursued by a big black monster

Last night I woke in the early hours, having had a vivid dream. I was in a domestic setting somewhere and discovered a big black creature in the garden which was trying to get into the house. It was like a cross between a bear and an ape, though it always walked on its hind legs; it was most like a man in a black ape suite, I guess, though walking upright and not trying to mimic an ape. I went back inside the house and it managed to follow me in. I went through a few rooms and back out into the garden and managed to lead it out into the garden and close the house door on it. I was then searching upstairs through cupboards for a rifle to fend it off. After much searching and enquiries with other people who lived in the house (people who were connected with a rifle club that I was a member of some thirty-five years ago), I managed to locate the rifle and a few blocks of ammo and was then outside again looking for the monster. It was then nowhere to be seen, though I could hear its growling somewhere nearby. I then went back inside and could hear similar growling from inside the house. I found the source and discovered that it was being made by some baby-like creatures, or fat dwarf children, and once I’d discovered each of them, they fled.

Last night, not much after I had woken, Rhyan woke and told me he’d just had a disturbing dream. In his dream, he had discovered a big black Rastafarian lying on our living room floor. The man had an unusually big tongue, which was hanging out of his mouth, draped over the side of his head and lying on the carpet. Before entering the room, Rhyan had seen one of his cousins running from the room with a strange expression on his face. After discovering the Rastafarian himself he had realized what the expression on his cousins face meant. Rhyan left the room and then saw his cousin coming back, holding a knife. His cousin went back into the living room and when Rhyan followed him back in, he found his cousin knelt over the Rastafarian, trying to cut his tongue off.

After Rhyan had told me about his dream, it occurred to me that our dreams must have happened at the same time, which either meant that we had both sensed the same evil and expressed it in our dream, or that one of us was sensing the other’s dream and then had a similar, sympathetic dream. When thinking about this, I tried to recall any event from yesterday that might have inspired our dreams, or perhaps a TV programme or news item that we had both watched, but I could think of nothing that could have inspired such a dream. And then I realized what the “evil” force was that we had both sensed in our sleep. But I will wait until my suspicion is confirmed before I mention it.
